An unfamiliar to do list!

I’m looking at my to do list – everything on it requires new learning! Not one task is a repeat of something I’ve done a thousand times! When I look at it, I’m mostly invigorated, other times a little daunted. While listening to an FW Jobs Academy podcast Jamila Rizvi made the comment that some of us are much more comfortable being the second in charge, having that one person above us who the buck stops with. I would say that is definitely me! Until now, I've always had someone above me, so taking the reigns has been a huge challenge but one I'm finding rewarding, even when daunting.
Perhaps the being daunted part is why I have chosen to blog briefly (it isn’t on my to do list at all). I can do it without learning a new skill and I can’t get it wrong - it’s simply me sharing my thoughts, no new learning here.
On today's to do list is
- finalise my eBook, I think I just need to put on my big girl pants and press submit – but it’s a little scary when there is no easy turn back if you get it wrong!
- sign off on the printing off another run of books but this time from a new printing company. Now that I’ve seen how sales are going it’s time to take the plunge and order a larger quantity all at once. While I’m offered email proofs no hard proof copies are provided so I really need to know that the way they use the PDF I’ve supplied is the same as the previous company – just need to ask a few more questions then hit submit too!
- pitch an article to some newspapers – both local and national. Yes, I’ve done this before but in person, after an introduction had been made and when I knew the paper was looking for an article. So, not totally new but I feel the stakes are higher now – I want this badly. I want to get the story of the Razorback Truck Blockade out even further. It will also allow me to help highlight the difficulties truckies are facing today – so the stakes are definitely higher.
- learn Substack! Substack is a social media platform that supports long form writing (such as this) rather than the brief snippets liked by Instagram and Facebook readers. I think it will suit me to a t! I just need to figure out how to do it! I also need to make sure I'm not just adding anther task to my already overflowing to do list.
- complete some homework for my social media course! Oh, it’s been too long since I dipped into it.
- prepare meals for the next four days as I am teaching five-year-olds for the rest of the week. (Oh, I do know how to teach and cook – great!)
I admit my to do list wouldn't need doing in such a short space of time if I'd completed some of the tasks over the weekend but hey, a girls got to have fun! In 2008 I chose to attend a work conference and I met Helen and Kathy - we've stayed in touch ever since. This weekend we chatted, visited the Rone exhibit at Chadstone and Helen and I even managed to fit in a bit of dancing to great eighties songs. So, I guess it’s time I stopped the avoidance tactics and got to work!
